It is a natural choice for traditional and client-facing professions: accounting, banking, law, insurance, public service, hotel management and school administration. It also prints well, which helps at career fairs or when you bring a copy to an interview.
Under a centered round photo come your name in serif capitals, the headline in small, widely spaced accent-colored capitals and your contacts on one line. Each section title has a hairline beneath it, employers are in italics, and the side column lists skills as a running line of words separated by dots.
The border is drawn by the page style and never reaches applicant tracking systems (ATS), and skills written as plain words are easy to parse. Still, the side column is a second column that some systems read out of order. Put key skills in your experience bullets too, or use a single-column template for large portals.
